Spring Music Concert/Art Show 2026
March 30, 2026

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Boyd County Public School proudly hosted its annual Spaghetti Supper, K–12 Spring Pops Concert, and Art Show—an evening filled with creativity, community spirit, and celebration.
The night began with a delicious spaghetti supper, where families and community members gathered to enjoy a meal together while admiring an impressive display of artwork created by our talented students. The Art Show highlighted the creativity and dedication of our young artists and set a wonderful tone for the evening.
At 7:00 p.m., the K–12 Spring Pops Concert took center stage with this year’s lively “Beach–Hawaiian” theme. Students fully embraced the spirit of the program, dressing in festive attire and delivering energetic performances that brought a touch of summer to the stage.
The 5th and 6th Grade Band delighted the audience with “Surfin’ USA,” arranged by Michael Sweeney, and “Heavy Metal” by Scott Watson. The Junior High Band performed “Tribal Fusion” by Chris M. Bernotas (featuring 6th grade students), “Short Cuts” arranged by Michael Story, and “Hawaii Five-O” arranged by Michael Sweeney. The Senior High Band showcased their talents with “Fireworks” by Randall D. Standridge, joined by the Junior High Band for “Don’t Feed the Drummers” by Carl Strommen, “Moana” arranged by Johnnie Vinson, and “Crazy Train,” also arranged by Johnnie Vinson.
Choral performances were equally impressive. The Junior High Choir performed “Lava,” arranged by Roger Emerson. The combined Junior/Senior High Choir sang “Beyond” by Opetaia Foa’i and “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” arranged by Tom Anderson. The Senior High Choir delivered a moving performance of “Requiem” by Eliza Gilkyson.
The evening concluded with K–12 ensemble selections that brought all performers together, including “Under the Sea” arranged by Janet Day, “Go the Distance” arranged by Roger Emerson, and “All For One” arranged by Mark Brymer—favorites that were enjoyed by all in attendance.
The Boyd County Music and Art Departments extend their sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and supported this special event. Your encouragement, presence, and continued support mean so much to our students and staff. We are truly grateful for the strong community that makes evenings like this possible.
