West Holt Invite - Cross County - Oct 2 2025

It was another warm one as the Boyd County Cross Country team headed to compete at the West Holt Invite on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The Spartans faced tough competition and competed well.
Fifty-two girls lined up for the start of the varsity girls race. Junior Kaci Koenig was the only Lady Spartan to medal placing 15th with her season’s best time of 23:02. Senior Jada Harmon raced in for 39th place with a time of 27:28. Addi Janousek, junior, finished 42nd with a time of 27:48 to round out the Lady Spartan team. The girls placed 8th in the team standings.
The varsity boys faced stiff competition as 109 boys lined up to start. Senior Will Nelson placed 4th with a time of 18:06. He was followed closely by Ethan Zeisler, senior, who placed 7th with a time of 18:17. Issac Jensen, senior, just missed a medal placing 21st with a season’s best time of 19:28. Sophomore Aidyn Garwood placed 36th with a time of 20:39. Hayden Warnke, freshman, placed 55th with a time of 21:27.46. Senior Brook Strom placed just behind Warnke in 56th with a time of 21:27.96. Senior Alex Lechtenberg placed 80th with a season’s best time of 23:12. The boys placed 3rd in the team standings. Doniphan-Trumbull, a ranked D school and Oneill, a class C school, initially tied for first place in the team standings. Doniphan-Trumbull won the tie breaker to take home the title.
In the junior high ranks, 7th grader Baleigh Koenig continued to add to her medal count on the season. B Koenig placed 5th with a time of 7:18 on the 1600 meter course. 8th grader Savannah Zeisler placed 26th with a time of 8:27. Fellow 8th graders followed through the finish line. Trina Bennett placed 35th with a time of 9:13. Brynlee Janousek placed 43rd with a time of 9:48. And Corinna Reiser placed 45th with 9:53 on the clock. The junior high girls placed 5th overall in the team standings.
Eighty-nine junior high boys were last to compete on the course. Case Reiman, 8th grade, earned the 5th place medal in a 6:33 time. 7th grader Gage Schochenmaier placed 38th with a 7:35 time.
We would like to thank everyone who came out to the meet in Atkinson this week. There were lots of Boyd County faces. We appreciate all the support! Hope to see you at our NVC and district competions. The Niobrara Valley Conference meet will be held in Ainsworth on Thursday, October 9th starting at 4pm. This will be the final competition of the season for the junior high competitors. High school has district competition in Ainsworth on Thursday, October 16th start time 4pm.
