2026 Cross Country District D4 in Neligh
October 20, 2026
On Thursday, October 15, 2026 the Boyd County Cross Country team laced up their running shoes for the last time this season at the District D4 meet held in Neligh, NE. Top 15 runners and top three teams punch their ticket to state, and this year the Spartans came up a little short despite competing hard in the field of fast runners.
In the girls varsity race 52 girls lined up for the start. Senior Kaci Koenig raced hard and came in 22nd with a time of 23:43, her fastest time of the season on a true 5K course. Next across the finish for the Lady Spartans was freshman Savannah Zeisler. Zeisler took close to 2 minutes off her time from the Neligh homemeet on Sept 14 earning her 29th place and in a 24:22 time. Senior Addi Janousek raced through for 39th place in a time of 26:48. Janousek took over 2 minutes off her time from the regular season Neligh meet. Freshman Trina Bennett knocked off 30 seconds for 41st with a time of 27:08. Fellow freshman Corinna Reiser improved by 4 minutes on the Neligh course! Reiser placed 50th with her time of 30:53. The Lady Spartans placed 7th as a team.
The Boyd County boys varsity team also placed 7th. They lined up with 74 runners for their start. Junior Aidyn Garwood ran his PR on a true 5K course placing 23rd with a time of 19:23. Sophomore Hayden Warnke raced through next for the Spartans placing 28th with a time of 19:55. Freshman Case Reiman wasn’t far behind. He placed 37th with a time of 20:37.
The Spartans would like to wish all our local XC teams and runners good luck at the State Meet on Friday, October 23 in Kearney. Thank you to everyone who supported us this season. Our parents for all the snacks, encouragement, pictures, and handing out water during races. To the community members who check in for scores, talk to the kids about their races, and show up to help at the home meet and attend meets not in Boyd County, your dedication to our sport means a lot! Administration and Boyd County staff, thank you for working with us when meet times changed, lunches got moved, and for encouraging the runners each meet.
