JH Girls Kick Off the Start of Basketball Season
The Boyd County Girls Basketball team opened the season with games on consecutive nights. The Spartans opened with a 7-39 loss to West Holt on Monday. Alaina McBride led the way for the Spartans with 5 points, with Kyla McCarthy adding the final 2 points. Scoring was balanced in a 12-19 loss in the B game. Mya Burns scored 4 points, with Halle Boettcher, Gracen Eckert, Tomi Whipple and Alana Widstrom all adding 2 points.
Offense was a little more productive the next night. The opening game was a 12-18 loss to Burke. McBride again led the team, putting in 6 points. Kaylee Warnke added 3, McCarthy 2, and Widstrom 1. The Spartans found scoring much easier in the B game, winning 37-9. Burns put up 12 points, Elly Zeisler 8, Eckert 4, Whipple 4, Halle Boettcher 2 and Cheyenne Boettcher 2.
